Violinist Justyna Zańko, solo recital

Polish violinist Justyna Zańko gave an exciting violin recital at Holy Trinity Church, Headington, on 7th March 2026.

She performed a programme of immense variety and contrast consisting of Biber's Passacaglia in G minor ("The Guardian Angel"), Bach's Partita number 3 in E, Paganini's Caprice number 13 opus 27, Ÿsaye's Sonata number 4 in E minor and Wieniawski's Le Chant du Bivouac, op. 10 number 8.

The latter title by the way means "Campfire Song" and refers to a genre of poems written in WW1 to boost the morale of soldiers in the French army.

Captivated at once by the sonorous tones of the opening notes of the Biber, the audience was impressed by the energy and virtuosity of her performance, and even more so by the adventurous, extrovert approach of this prize-winning violinist. We hope there will be more opportunities to hear her play in Oxford.
