Handel’s Acis and Galatea 20th June at 7.30. Dorchester Abbey We are pleased to invite you to the Benson Choral Society’s summer concert, Acis and Galatea, a charming pastoral opera by Handel. It takes place on June 20th at 7.30pm in the glorious surroundings of Dorchester Abbey.
This was Handel’s most popular work during his lifetime and tells the love story between the beautiful nymph, Galatea, and the shepherd, Acis. There is a fine libretto by John Gay with Alexander Pope and John Hughes.
We are thrilled to be joined by some outstanding soloists: Anastasia and Dominic Bevan, both from the acclaimed Bevan Family Consort; William Searle, the well-known Welsh tenor, and Ben Davies, who has sung with The Sixteen.
