Good news. The Eagle and Child public house in Cornmarket, central Oxford, is to re-open for business.
The pub, founded in 1684, was once the favoured meeting place of C.S.Lewis, J.R.R.Tolkien and their literary circle. But the Covid lockdown drove it to close down and Oxford residents thought it was lost forever.
Now it has been bought by the Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) and will soon be back in action. It's even inviting suggestions for what beers and drinks to stock.
